Computer Science Department Providing Latest Knowledge & Technology

Computer Science is a quick moving and rapidly evolving area of technology. One important part of our MS for Computer Professionals program is that we are always upgrading our curriculum and facilities, so that students will have direct experience with the latest and most up-to-date aspects of Computer Science and the computing profession.

In this last year we have added new courses in data mining, cloud computing, and mobile device programming; added three new Ph.D. CS faculty, and are now upgrading all of our labs and classroom computers.

This full upgrade will mean that students always have the latest in computers available in their classes and for lab projects.

Employers appreciate our students

According to Julie Stephens, Ph.D., Director of Curricular Practical Training Career Placement in our Computer Professionals Career Center, "One of the main reasons IT recruiters and employers continue hiring MUM intern students is that the students are well prepared, and ready to make meaningful contributions as soon as they begin work. The Computer Science Department's commitment to latest knowledge and latest technology is greatly appreciated by employers."

Ethiopian and Eritrean Computer Science Graduate Students at Home at MUM

Walking through the McLaughlin Building, home of the School of Computer Science and Mathematics at Maharishi University of Management, you meet students with a rich diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. While more than 40 nationalities are usually represented in the MSCS program on-campus at any given time, it becomes apparent that there are more Ethiopians than any other nationality represented. In fact, since our MSCS program began in 1996, the largest number of graduates come from Ethiopia. Out of 1205 graduates, 289 are Ethiopian. Among currently enrolled students on-campus and doing internships around the U.S., Ethiopians are also the largest group represented with 155. Read the newsletter here.
